Wayne Mawer has recently been announced as the World Champion F1 Waterski Racer for 2009.  We would encourage everyone to celebrate Wayne's achievement by cheering him home at the Cairns International Airport - Cathay Pacific arrivals at 8.45am this Thursday the 30th of July.  Please come along and show your support of Cairns' own double World Champion (1997 and 2009).

Welcome to Cairns & District Power Boat & Ski Club. The club was formed in 1965 by a group of individuals who wanted to get together and race their then new motorised boats. From there the club has grown and has a strong pedigree of world champion skiers. Our small club has produced 3 World (Wayne Mawer winning in 1997 and again in 2009) and 5 Australian Speed Ski Champions.Over the years the club has gone through a number of different phases seeing us host Power Boat Racing, Speed Skiing, Three Event Tournament Skiing, Barefoot Competitions, Wakeboarding and Lane Racing.We are currently holding Lane Racing and Barefoot competitions with the occasional Wakeboard competition thrown in for good measure.

Lane Racing

Our club holds the WORLD RECORD for most number of skiers behind one boat.  This was set in 1986 with 100 skiers successfully skiing both a double skis and then single skis.  Please visit World Water Ski Record 100 Water Skiers. on you tube for video footage of this extraordinary accomplishment.
